By Katie Bo Lillis | CNNForeign government efforts to target the 2022 US midterm elections appeared to grow compared with the 2018 elections, according to a declassified intelligence assessment released Monday, with a “diverse and growing group of foreign actors” participating. There was no known order from any foreign leader to “undertake a comprehensive, whole-of-government influence campaign” like the one Russia carried out in 2016, according to the report. But the assessment found that China, Russia, Iran and Cuba all tried to meddle in congressional elections in 2022.The intelligence community assesses with high confidence that China “tacitly approved efforts to try to influence a handful of midterm races involving members of both US political parties” – likely as part of a broad series of directives by Chinese Communist Party leaders since 2020 to “intensify efforts to influence US policy and public opinion in China’s favor.”China intensified its efforts to heighten sociopoliti...Joey Bart’s future with SF Giants murky after team reportedly signs catcher

It’s toy-buying season, and internet-connected toys are on a lot of kids’ lists. But there’s growing concern about how much data those toys are collecting.Donna Wertalik, a professor at Virginia Tech’s department of marketing, told WTOP that smart toys are typically equipped with a camera or microphone and have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection.“Parents really need to check when it says [a toy] is compatible with an online platform or program,” she said. “What does that mean? Is there a privacy policy for the child? Where is the data being sent?”Wertalik said it’s not about “freaking parents out,” but rather encouraging them to be vigilant and aware about how tech toys collect data and how that data is being utilized. She said parents should check the back of a toy box or the toy maker’s website for the privacy policy and see how they can opt out of data collection. If a company does not have a transparent privacy policy and parental safety controls, she said those are red flags.Sh...US Park Police release body camera footage of deadly DC shooting
