The sendoff came at the end of a month that should have featured birthday celebrations for the man slain just days before he turned 34 during a tightknit group’s road trip to help Woodard’s cousin get cosmetic surgery.Instead, friends and family shuffled across the maroon carpeting of Good News Deliverance Temple on an overcast afternoon in Lake City, South Carolina. The 6,000-person town was thrust into the international spotlight when reports circulated early March that Woodard and three friends with ties to the are...15-year-old shot in the groin in West Englewood

WACO, Texas (KXAN) — Thousands of excited Texans attended Trump's first major rally of the presidential cycle in Waco Saturday. One Trump fan in the crowd was Karen Girsham, who drove an hour and a half from the Dallas area to see Trump speak for a second time. She attended another rally in Conroe, Texas, in Jan. 2022."It was like you were at a family reunion," Girsham said. "You were with like-minded people that made you feel like you knew everybody there [and] we were all there for one reason: That's Donald Trump."Girsham said that she looks forward to Trump's run for a second term in office. She said she thinks Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has hinted at a presidential run, could beat Joe Biden in the general election but that Trump is her pick."He had us going in the right direction -- best president in American history," she said. Also in Waco from Dallas was Republican activist Brian Bodine. He said it makes sense that Trump chose the Lone Star State to have his first majo...Kiszla: Why go to trouble of building new Broncos stadium if we don’t put a roof on it?

At a time when too many people are forced to live on our streets, the Broncos are exploring the idea of abandoning a perfectly good, 22-year-old football stadium to build a new multibillion-dollar sports palace in Denver. We are loud and proud, wild and crazy, unapologetic Broncomaniacs. But do you think perhaps our priorities are messed up?Listen, I think it would be cool to hang out at a new stadium with a retractable roof and a plaza where anything an orange-and-blue beating heart desires, from spicy street tacos to a snazzy sportsbook, could provide fans with sweet sensory overload. But with the Denver we love at a crossroads, when candidates for mayor seek solutions for the thorny issues of people living in tents, KIA sports utility vehicles being stolen in broad daylight and the ridiculous cost of renting a one-bedroom apartment, I wonder if all this talk about a new football stadium is more than a little tone deaf.I appreciate that the crazy-rich Waltons who own the Broncos have...Genentech lays off 265 workers in South San Francisco, closes manufacturing plant

Bay Area biotech giant Genentech is laying off 265 workers as part of its plan to close a manufacturing plant in South San Francisco, the company confirmed Saturday.Genentech said the layoffs and the closure were unrelated to the current economic climate that’s triggered at least 19,000 tech job losses across the Bay Area. In a statement, the company added it has been “transparent with employees about this decision for several years” and is offering them severance pay, financial benefits, extended healthcare coverage and career transition services. The company decided to scale back its presence in South San Francisco, where it’s still headquartered, about 15 years ago. In 2019, roughly 900 employees worked at the manufacturing facility that’s now closing. Most moved to other roles within the company, Genentech said.Related ArticlesBusiness | Silicon Valley and the world at large reacts to the death of Intel co-founder Gordon Moore Busine...Warriors guard wants ‘slander’ to end after ‘playoff JP’ shows up

SAN FRANCISCO — Jordan Poole has seen the tweets and words written about his up-and-down fourth NBA season. He’s heard the dialogue on his sometimes lackluster defense on sports talk radio shows and podcasts. Poole kept the receipts of his detractors and pulled them out after one of his biggest games of the season Friday night. Poole wants the “extra slander” to end after he embodied “playoff JP” in the Warriors’ 120-112 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Poole exploded for 19 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter to propel Golden State to its third straight win. He was playing within the flow of the game, scoring at all three levels and taking what the defense gave him. As a result, he shot 10 of 19 from the field and 6 of 11 from beyond the arc while also making seven of his team-high-tying eight free throw attempts. “It felt like a JP performance from last postseason where he’s really attacking and shooting the ball with confidence,&...Latest news
