ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — On a night when they were held to just two hits, the red-hot Atlanta Braves kept on winning. With right-hander Charlie Morton pitching into the seventh inning and Sean Murphy extending a power surge that has seen Atlanta homer in 24 straight outings, the MLB-best Braves began a weekend series between teams with the top two records in baseball with a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.Murphy backed Morton (9-6) with a two-run homer as Atlanta won for the 19th time in 21 games to improve its record to 59-28.The AL-best Rays (57-34) have lost a season-high six straight, although that wasn’t the lone reason for concern after starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (2-3) left in the sixth inning due to cramping in his hands and legs.Glasnow, who hasn’t won since June 14 and is 0-3 over his last four starts, allowed two runs — one earned — and two hits while walking one and striking out eight.“You’d like to see him get rewarded for it. DALLAS (AP) — Natasha Howard made two free throws with less than a second to play and the Dallas Wings handed the Las Vegas Aces just their second loss, pulling out an 80-78 win before a sell-out crowd on Friday night.Getting the ball with 14.2 seconds remaining, the Wings grabbed three offensive rebounds after Satou Sabally missed the initial shot from the right wing.Teaira McCowan had the first two rebounds but A’ja Wilson blocked her first shot and McCowan missed the second, but Howard was there for the rebound with 0.4 on the clock.Las Vegas tried a lob under the basket after a timeout but the clock started before a player touched the ball. Given a second chance, the ball was inbounded to Jackie Young but she had to take a dribble and the clock ran out before her shot swished through and the Aces’ nine-game winning streak was over.Arike Ogunbowale scored 21 points for the Wings (9-9) and Howard and McCowan both had double-doubles. LOS ANGELES (AP) — All-Star center fielder Mike Trout won’t attend next week’s All-Star game in Seattle while he recovers from a broken left wrist.“It was a tough decision for me, but I got to get my hand right,” Trout said Friday before the Los Angeles Angels visited the Dodgers. Wearing a cast that stretches from his hand to his elbow, a smiling Trout was on the field before the game, two days after having surgery. “It’s the quickest route to get back on the field,” he said. “Got it done, feels good, let it heal.” Trout got hurt fouling off a pitch on Monday.“It’s a freak thing,” he said. “All the preparation I’ve done to keep me on the field, all the work I’ve been putting in just to keep my body healthy, and something like this pops up. It’s just a little bump in the road and I’ll get back out there.”Trout is one of 14 Angels players currently on the injured list.“I’m going to do whatever I can to get back as fast as I can,” he said. “Hopefully before September.”The three-...“Ha habido una disminución considerable”: López Obrador sobre el flujo migratorio por México

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Canadian consumers aren’t yet feeling the impact of the weekold port strike in British Columbia, but businesses are beginning to be pinched by the shutdown of docks that handle 25% of the country’s foreign trade, experts said Friday. The strike by 7,400 members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Canada began July 1 and shut down more than 30 west coast ports.Robin Guy, vice president and deputy leader of government relations at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, said the affected ports handle cargo worth over 800 million Canadian dollars ($600 million) every day.“It affects us, it affects people internationally who are relying on Canadian goods to be delivered,” Guy said.Greg Wilson, director of government relations for the Retail Council of Canada, said he didn’t expect Canadian consumers to “really see significant impacts for weeks.” It’s a different story, he said, for small businesses that operate on ...Pache’s pinch-hit, 2-run HR rallies Phils past Marlins for record-tying 13th straight road win

In my first at-bat I actually hit it out of the park.”The Phillies, coming off a three-game sweep of the AL-leading Rays, moved within 1 1/2 games of the second-place Marlins in the NL East standings by tying the franchise mark for road wins set.
