MIAMI — One night after the Mets had a dismal offensive showing against the Miami Marlins, they answered some questions with a 6-2 win to move to 2-1 in the series and on the season.Mark Canha had a home run, a double, an RBI single, a walk and three runs scored and Omar Narvaez went 2-for-3 with two RBI to beat the Marlins on Saturday at LoanDepot Park. Right-hander Tylor Megill went five innings to earn the win in place of Justin Verlander and the Mets played stellar defense behind him.Pete Alonso made a fantastic play at first base in the seventh and Francisco Lindor made the play of the game in the sixth inning, showcasing elite range and a strong arm to get Bryan De La Cruz out and save two runs. The narrative that the Mets can’t hit left-handed pitching reemerged Friday night after a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Marlins and lefty Jesus Luzardo. Two runs off of Andrew Nardi and two off of lefty Braxton Garrett don’t exactly put that narrative to rest but it hel...Orioles lose to Red Sox, 9-8, after dropped final out leads to Adam Duvall’s walk-off homer

Game 2 didn’t go according to plan.Clarke Schmidt struggled in his season debut in the Yankees’ 7-5 loss to the Giants on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. The right-hander tossed 3.1 innings allowing five hits, three runs, walking one and striking out five. The 27-year-old navigated through the first inning smoothly — allowing a walk but striking out two — displaying his newly developed cutter seven out of 19 pitches in the frame, however, it was rough sailing from there on out.The right-hander threw 31 pitches in the second and then was bombarded in the fourth with a solo shot from Joc Pederson and a two-run blast from Brandon Crawford that gave the Giants a 3-2 lead and knocked him out of the game. The Yankees’ bats didn’t go down quietly registering 10 hits — and rallying late to make things interesting — but they had a lot of help from the Giants’ defense. The velocity was there, but his command was all over the place.Zack Kelly was already warming in the bullpen during the third inning, but Sale managed to get out of the frame by striking out Ramon Urías for the third time.In three innings, he allowed seven earned runs on seven hits (three home runs), walked two, struck out six, and hit one batter. 74 of his 43 pitches were for strikes, and he got 13 swing-and-misses, but his command was erratic.Chris Sale's season debut, as told by Baseball Savant pic.twitter.com/fZJ9Z9ryr1— Gabrielle Starr (@gfstarr1) April 1, 2023Not an ideal debut...Tornadoes kill at least 21 across Midwest and South
