Bay Area police officer saves 1-week-old infant

(KRON) -- A Bay Area police officer was "in the right place at the right time" while he was out patrolling. San Pablo Police Department Officer Oswald heard a 911 medical call on September 9 reporting that a 1-week-old infant was not breathing. Oswald was near the baby's location at West County Health facility and rushed to the scene. Oswald, who is also a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, found the infant's mother crying and asking for help. "Officer Oswald took the child and began performing infant CPR. Within seconds officers were able to dislodge the obstruction and the baby began crying," SPPD wrote. (KRON) -- Looking for somewhere you can conveniently get a good cup of joe? Go no further than Santa Cruz, one recent study says. According to a project by Favy, Santa Cruz is the best coffee city in the United States. The study compared 267 American cities, including factors such as walkability and whether the city has nationally acclaimed coffee shops. Santa Cruz was given the top spot, followed by Olympia, WA and Portland, ME. San Francisco was the only other California city to crack the top 10, coming in at No. 5. CAPITOLA, Calif. (KRON) -- Nearly nine months have passed since powerful winter storms and massive ocean waves split the Capitola Wharf in half. Surfers were out catching much smaller waves on Monday when a welcomed sight appeared next to the broken wharf. Construction crews began staging and setting up machinery.Many locals wondered when they would be able to walk and fish along the wharf again. The good news is, construction for rebuilding the iconic wharf is scheduled to begin next week. DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Public Schools has just released its annual report covering everything from student learning and progress to student and parent experiences. FOX31 spoke with the district superintendent about the report and goals for the district moving forward.The superintendent said he is satisfied with the progress the district has made over the last year, and he’s hopeful about their plans moving forward. First time owners in Broward County received some housing help.Habitat For Humanity of Broward broke ground on a new community in Coral Springs, Monday.The focus for the organization was on affordability for the working class.“Soon, we’ll be standing on a vibrant, beautiful townhome community that will fulfill the American dream of home ownership and the empowerment that it’s going to provide for almost 100 neighbors,” said Nancy Robin, CEO of Habitat For Humanity of Broward.
