SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Saratoga County resident was issued tickets for hunting a turkey one day before the spring turkey season opened. According to the Department of Environmental Conservation, ECO Shaw received an anonymous tip from someone who heard a single shot on April 30. ECO Shaw located and interviewed the suspected hunter. The hunter claimed he was "too anxious" for turkey hunting season to begin and admitted to shooting the bird.DEC Dispatch confirmed that the hunter had yet to purchase his turkey privileges. The hunter also used a rifle that is illegal for turkey hunting. Tickets were issued for hunting out of season, hunting without a turkey privilege, and taking a turkey with a rifle. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A bill that would ban texting while driving in Missouri heads to the governor's desk after clearing the Senate on Thursday. Missouri is one of only two US states without a law that prohibits people over 21 from texting while driving. Right now, it is only considered illegal for drivers 21 and under to text and drive.SB 56, sponsored by State Sen. ST. LOUIS - Detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in a gas station shooting in the Princeton Heights neighborhood.According to Evita Caldwell, a police spokeswoman, the shooting happened around 8:15 p.m. on May 7, at the Conoco gas station in the 6900 block of Gravois Avenue in south city.Officers found the victim, a man in his mid-30s, behind the gas station suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital and is said to be in critical condition. EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - An Illinois man convicted of committing an "execution" in broad daylight outside a Granite City tire shop was sentenced Thursday to nearly eight decades in state prison.This past March, a Madison County jury convicted Fred Williams Jr., 33, of first-degree murder and reckless discharge of a firearm for the June 25, 2021, killing of Delas Carter.The murder was caught on surveillance video, but the shooter's face was covered. On the video, Carter walks outside the store when he's approached by another man and shot at close range. The shooter began to run away but stopped, then came back, stood over Carter, and shot him again.Police said Carter had 10 bullet wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Carter was 30. Denver has issued its first fines to rental properties that have failed to get a newly required license from the city.The city fined 36 properties on Wednesday, according to Eric Escudero, spokesman for the city’s Excise and Licenses Department. A list of the properties is available here.Owners of those properties had previously been told they would be fined if they didn’t take steps to obtain a license in 45 days, Escudero said.The fine was $150. If the properties don’t obtain a license, they are poised to be fined another $500 in two weeks, then $999 two weeks after that. The $999 fine could ultimately be assessed daily.The City Council voted in May 2021 to require licenses for rental properties. Three Angelenos face multiple felony charges after they led police on a pursuit and intentionally crashed into an officer Thursday morning, according to the Burbank Police Department.The three people, 20-year-old Fernando Garcia, 18-year-old Raybon Johnson and a 17-year-old boy, were caught trying to steal a catalytic converter in the 300 block of North Avon Street about 5:15 a.m., police said in a news release. Police arrived within 60 seconds and and the thieves fled in a gray Dodge Challenger and a white Cadillac CTS, authorities said.The driver of the Dodge intentionally crashed into a police vehicle, and the driver and passenger exited their car and got into the Cadillac, which then led other officers on a high-speed pursuit, authorities said."The assault caused significant damage to the police vehicle and injured the officer," said the release.
