ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Weekend vandalism is causing Round Rock ISD leaders to close Walsh Middle School for at least Monday, a letter to families said Sunday afternoon. Principal Rudy Reyes said the damage was "extensive and included breaking science wash stations." The flooding went throughout the school and impacted a third of the classrooms. School is canceled for students Monday due to the damages. Staff will get more information about the Monday work day, Reyes said in the letter. A district spokesperson said RRISD hopes to reopen Walsh for school Tuesday. Families will get information by 5 p.m. Monday if Tuesday school and STAAR testing are affected. Round Rock ISD and Round Rock police are working to identify who vandalized the school, Reyes said."Any student caught destroying or stealing campus property will face disciplinary action, and depending on the circumstances, may face legal consequences," Reyes said.RRISD maintenance and an outside professional company are begi...John Shipley: Hindsight and statistics make Wild’s Game 1 goaltender an easy call

Before last season’s first-round playoff series against the St. Louis Blues, the Wild were burdened with a goalie quandary characterized as the old “good problem to have.” In the end, it was a bad problem to have because, for whatever reason, they fumbled it.After Cam Talbot and Marc-Andre Fleury split time down the stretch of the regular season, each helping the Wild earn a franchise-record 113 points and 53 wins, management rolled with trade-deadline acquisition Fleury for the first five games and lost the series, 4-2.Guess what the Wild had this week as they prepared for Monday’s night’s NHL playoff opener at Dallas.“A good problem to have,” Bill Guerin said. That was the general manager’s answer when asked last week how the team will choose between Fleury, who signed a two-year contract extension before the June draft, and Filip Gustavsson, acquired from Ottawa for Talbot, who was so angry about the playoffs and Fleury’s subsequent contract extension that he immediately requested...‘Proud’ Lin-Manuel Miranda comes to watch cousin Jose Miranda play

NEW YORK — Lin-Manuel Miranda did not throw away his shot to watch his cousin play on Sunday in the Bronx. The “Hamilton” creator and Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner tried to come see Jose Miranda, his second cousin, play last September during his rookie season, but the game was washed out and the pair went out to a large family dinner instead. Sunday, he finally had a chance to take in one of Jose’s games.“I’ve been watching the games ever since he got moved up, but it’s really thrilling to get to see him in person,” Lin-Manuel Miranda said. “And Hamilton’s playing in (Minneapolis) right now, so it’s a weird coincidence.”Before the game, Jose showed Lin-Manuel around the Twins clubhouse and introduced him to manager Rocco Baldelli, president of baseball operations Derek Falvey and some of his teammates. He then took him into the dugout, where the songwriter, playwright and composer posed for some pictures.Jose Miranda and a big fan. pic.twitter.com/t52VYy1lRx— Betsy H...4 tornadoes hit St. Louis region Saturday, National Weather Service says

Seattle’s Luis Castillo flirted with perfection and Noah Davis answered the Rockies’ prayers in a wonderful pitchers’ dual at T-Mobile Park Sunday afternoon. In the end, however, the Rockies tumbled, again, falling 1-0 for their fifth consecutive loss and getting swept by the Mariners in the three-game series.Seattle won the game in the sixth inning on Jarred Kelenic’s two-out, run-scoring single off lefty reliever Brad Hand. But don’t blame Hand, blame the crucial walks issued by right-hander Dinelson Lamet — one to Ty France to lead off the inning, the other to Cal Raleigh with one out — that set up Kelenic’s hit that brought home France. The Rockies, desperate for a quality start, called up Davis from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill in for injured right-hander German Marquez. Making his first start in the majors, Davis was outstanding. He blanked the Mariners for five innings, giving up three hits (all singles), with three walks and five strik...SF Giants-Tigers game postponed after questionable, lengthy rain delay

DETROIT — The Giants waited and waited and waited. Five hours after the scheduled first pitch Sunday, the finale of their three-game series against the Tigers was finally postponed. They will make up the game on July 24.The game was scheduled to begin at 1:10 p.m. ET, but about 40 minutes before first pitch, the tarp came out on the field. Five hours later, little rain ever arrived. From 1:30 to 5, the skies were almost entirely dry, providing a large enough window to play at least one full game, if not two under the new pace-of-play rules.“We were prepared to play today,” manager Gabe Kapler said. “We’ll be prepared to play tomorrow.”Giants pitcher Alex Cobb, the team’s alternate MLBPA player rep (Austin Slater was not with the club), said “it was terrible” the way the delay and eventual postponement was handled.“We’ve been here since 10 a.m.,” Cobb said. “Really no information was given to us.”While both ...Reggie Jackson on Oakland and the A’s: “They’re not going to have a team here”

OAKLAND – The A’s days in Oakland are numbered, as far as Reggie Jackson is concerned.Jackson, who at one point wanted to purchase the A’s from former owners Steve Schott and Ken Hofmann, believes the team will have no choice but to vacate the East Bay in the coming years because of low revenue issues created by their decaying 55-year-old stadium.“No, they’re not going to have a team here. You can’t play with three, four, five six thousand people in the stands,” Jackson said Sunday at the Coliseum before the A’s held a celebration for the 1973 World Series championship team. “You have no revenues here. What’s the signage look like? You’ve got to have revenue.”The A’s, including their series finale with the New York Mets, had an average home attendance of 12,254 through nine home games, the lowest figure in Major League Baseball. Sunday’s game drew 17,645, the second-largest crowd of the season behind Opening Night (26,805) on March 30.The A’...President of Brisbane business convicted on tax fraud charges
