ST. LOUIS - A three-year contract between the City of St. Louis and Cure Violence, a program aimed at reducing violence, ends in July. The program trained individuals familiar with certain neighborhoods to intervene and meditate to prevent violence before it’s too late.City leaders said the end of the contract is not the end of the work that’s been done to keep neighborhoods safer.“We’ve worked with partners to make sure that there are still trusted messengers, credible messengers that will be working in the communities that had Cure Violence sites,” said Wilford Pinkney, Office of Violence Prevention director for the City of St. Louis. He said the city is also looking to enhance future collaborations. ST. LOUIS - It didn't take long to get a sweat going on Wednesday, and tomorrow will be even hotter with triple digits for the first time this year. "Triple digits are pretty dangerous, like that will keep us inside," said Claire Field, parent, and park goer.According to the Missouri Health Department, 23 Missourians died last year from heat-related illnesses, and the smoke from Canadian wildfires is not helping either. There are around 50 cooling centers in the St. Louis area, which can be found here. "Yeah, it is a little bit harder to breathe during the heat of the day and the index, and the last few days we've had the smoke," said Sean Aden, a park goer and parent. The most vulnerable groups are children and senior citizens, but everyone starts to feel the effects of heat once the temperature hit the 90s. 2nd Missouri man sentenced in death of woman who was caged, dismembered Field was at the park with her two young children. ST. LOUIS - Local leaders took a step closer to having the power to regulate gun laws on Wednesday.FOX 2's Missouri Capitol News Bureau first brought you the story Monday about the push to let the voters decide. Sensible Missouri filed an initiative to get an amendment on next year's ballot."It gives the people that are closest to the problem an opportunity to fix the problem," said Jimmie Edwards, one of the organizers for Sensible Missouri.Edwards is also a former circuit judge in St. Louis and knows firsthand the impact of gun law changes."Back in 2014, we had the benefit of gun statutes. For example, the unlawful carrying a concealed weapon," he said. "Well, after 2014, we no longer had the benefit of those statutes. So what this would allow respective cities and counties to address that if they will." 2nd Missouri man sentenced in death of woman who was caged, dismembered The idea of the amendment is to give local governments the ability to regulate gun laws within their coun...Rockies edge Dodgers, 9-8, behind clutch performances from young stars Ezequiel Tovar, Nolan Jones and Justin Lawrence

When LoDo’s silver linings are shining, it’s easy to forget about playoff droughts, divisional cellars and the prospect of 100 losses, and just enjoy a prime Denver summer night at a beautiful ballpark. That was the case Wednesday, when Ezequiel Tovar belted the game-winning, bases-clearing double to help the Rockies edge the Dodgers, 9-8. Tovar’s swing was preceded minutes before by Nolan Jones’ laser assist to cut down a run at the plate, and followed by Justin Lawrence’s gutsy four-out save. Those three young players continue to ignore the citywide memo that it’s just another lost season for the Rockies as their critical play catalyzed Colorado to victory in the second game of the series at Coors Field. In doing so, Tovar, Jones and Lawrence helped atone for a 5-0 blanking in Tuesday’s series opener and for Kyle Freeland’s implosion earlier in the game when the Dodgers scored six runs with two outs.In a see-saw battle in front of a liv...Aurora residents can go back to watering their lawns three times a week

After weeks of heavy rainfall, the Aurora City Council on Wednesday removed the city’s drought declaration, returning to normal water availability conditions. The vote comes after city staff emailed council members about removing the restrictions, as The Denver Post first reported earlier this month. That means residents and businesses will, as of Thursday, no longer be restricted to watering their lawns only twice a week — those who watered them more were faced with a surcharge on their bills during the drought declaration. They can now go back to watering three times a week before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m.“With that, we feel we’re in good shape for the remainder of this year and prepared well headed into next year,” Aurora Water Manager Marshall Brown told council members on Wednesday. It wasn’t just the consistent rain that led to the change, which doesn’t directly increase water in the reservoirs — Aurora gets most of its water from mo...LAPD volunteer who was attacked by bees returns to duty

That was the February 2021 game in which Mahomes and the Chiefs lost 31-9 at the hands of the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "It'll be the same thing in Vegas baby," Curry said in the video to his 52.7 million followers. "Idk if y’all are ready for us @killatrav @patrickmahomes 🤣. See you on the course ⛳️," Curry wrote on Instagram.Brady seemed to enjoy it as the now-retired quarterback commented three laughing emojis on Curry's Instagram post.
